Sock Booties

I made these for a friends baby and she said they stayed on well.

To fit 6 months.

Needles: 3.25 mm and 4 mm or to make gauge.
Yarn: Patons Beehive Baby Sport
Gauge: 24 st = 4” in st st on 4 mm needles


LEG
Cast on 36 st with larger needles.

Change to smaller needles.
Work 4 rows K2, P2 rib.

Change to larger needles.
Work in k2, p2 rib until the piece measures 5”

Change to smaller needles
Work 6 rows k2, p2 rib

INSTEP
Change to larger needles

Row 1. k 23
Row 2. P 10

Work 12 rows st. st. on these 10 sts.

SIDES
With right side facing, lay yarn down side of piece to closest stitch of row 1.
Pick up and knit 7 st. on right side of instep, working under and over the spare yarn to secure it.
Knit across 10 st at then pick up and knit 7 st. down other side of instep.
Knit across the remainder of the stitches. (50 St.)

Beginning with a purl row work in st. st. for 4 rows.

Row 1: P 24, k2, p24.
Row 2: Knit
Row 3: P20, P2 tog, P1, K4, p1, p2 tog, p20

SOLE
Row 1: K 27, K2 tog. turn.
Row 2: K7 K2 tog. turn.

Repeat row 2 28 more times.

Row 29: K7, K2 tog, k4. (16 St.)
Bind off.
Weave back seam and sew back of sole to sides.
